“the most influential wines in the history of Italian viticulture” . Tignanello was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques, the first contemporary red wine blended with untraditional varieties (specifically Cabernet) and one of the first red wines in the Chianti Classico region that didn’t use white grapes. Tignanello is a milestone, the first 'Super Toscan' ever produced, It’s made with a selection of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc growing on soils rich in limestone, schist and marl including the unique Alberese white stone. The label was designed by artist Silvio Coppola in 1974 for the release of Tignanello 1971, it stylized the sun. Expressive, the 2016 is already an absolute pleasure to drink now yet will age beautifully for the next decade.
